To install the base function tray

Warning: Protect the hardware components against damage from electrostatic discharge. Always wear a grounded wrist strap before you handle components. Always place the components in a static-free container or work area.

Warning: Use care when removing or inserting the base function tray. Do not forcefully remove or insert the base function tray because you could damage or stretch the cables.

1Disconnect the BCM system from the AC power outlet.

2Attach one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal surface.

3Move the base function tray latches to the unlocked position.

4Position the base function tray in the correct main unit bay.

5Partially insert the base function tray into the main unit (see Figure 107).

6Connect the DS30 connectors to the MSC. If necessary, install the WAN card (see “Installing the WAN card” on page 302).

7If required, install the base function tray bezel (see “To install the base function tray bezel” on page 238).

8Push the base function tray completely into the main unit. Be careful not to crimp the DS30 cables.
