Chapter 20 Preparing hardware for maintenance or upgrades 245

To remove the main unit top cover

1Shut down the system (see “Performing a system shutdown” on page 231).

2Disconnect the BCM system from the AC power outlet.

3If required, remove the main unit from the server rack.

4Attach one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal surface.

5Remove the two top cover screws located at the rear of the main unit. Place the screws in a safe location.

6Lift the back of the cover and slide rearward until it disengages from the main unit. Refer to Figure 114 on page 245 or Figure 115 on page 246.

7Lift the top cover up and away from the main unit. Place the cover in a safe location.
