In order to create endoluminal displays with CT data sets, we need to differentiate the structures of interest from the rest of the anatomy. This can be achieved with either positive or negative contrast enhance- ment.

In principle, there are few objects/media which are suitable for endoscopic renderings:

•Gas, e.g., air or carbon dioxide

•Fluid, e.g., water, Iodine-based intravenous/infusion media or Barium-based oral and rectal contrast agents

•Bone

•Metal, e.g., stents
