3Printing Basics

Media and ink handling tips

■Keep the media supplies, trays, and ink in covered containers. Dust and dirt can be transferred to the paper or transparency media, resulting in poor print quality.

■Handle transparencies by the edges and with both hands to avoid fingerprints and creases, which can result in poor print quality.

■Place slip sheets between printed transparencies or use a protective cover to prevent contact between transparencies.

■To avoid having the paper stick together, gently fan the paper before loading it into the paper tray.

■Paper that has been sitting out of its sealed wrapper can become distorted, causing paper jams. Keep paper sealed until you are ready to use it for printing.

■Do not use paper that has been creased or wrinkled.
