Printing using lpr utilities

Using lpr utilities in DOS

You may print a document using the following lpr utilities:

lpr (DOS and UNIX)

lpq (DOS and UNIX)

lprm (DOS and UNIX)

lpc (UNIX only)

To use these lpr utilities in DOS:

If you are using FTP PC-TCP/IP software, these commands are available. Refer to your software documentation for a description of all the options available.

If you are using the Wollongong Pathway Access network communication package, you can use the lpr command to print jobs, but the -C options are not available. Refer to the documentation you received with your Wollongong software for complete information.

If you are using Sun PC-NFS, you may be able to submit jobs to your printer, as long as your system administrator configured the printer to do so. For complete information on setting up the print capability, refer to your PC-NFS software documentation.

To check status of jobs, use the telnet utility.

Using lpr utilities in UNIX

To use these lpr utilities in UNIX:

If you are using Sun PC-NFS, you may be able to submit jobs to your printer, as long as your system administrator configured the printer to do so. For complete information on setting up the print capability, refer to your PC-NFS software documentation.

All UNIX commands and options are case-sensitive.

To check status of jobs, use the telnet utility.
