Installing Video Memory

Notice: Observe static precautions. Use an antistatic wrist strap.

1.If the system is on, power off the system and remove the side panel as described earlier in this chapter.

2.Remove the processor/memory board, refer to Removing the Processor/Memory Board earlier in this chapter.

3.Align the beveled edge of the video memory module with the notched corner of the video memory socket. Refer to Figure 5-7 for the video memory socket location.

4.Press the video memory module down firmly until it is fully seated in its socket.

5.Replace the side panel and power on the system.

Non - Volatile Memory

Note: Earlier versions of the system board do not have a socket for the non-volatile memory chip. You can not replace the non-volatile memory chip on these system boards.

You may need to replace the non-volatile memory because of its internal integral lithium battery life span. Contact your sales representative or dealer for a list of approved devices. Its located on your system board as shown in Figure 5-8. Notice the dot on the chip. This dot will assist you in correctly positioning the chip on the system board.

CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with same or equivalent type recommended by manufacturer. Dispose of lithium batteries as required by local ordinance or as normal waste if no local ordinance exists. Do not expose the component to excessive heat or fire. Keep all batteries away from children.
