The system board also contains five PCI bus master I/O expansion slots (Figure 2-3, B). One of these slots shares a common chassis I/O expansion slot with one of the EISA slots; if you use this slot as a PCI slot, you cannot use it as an EISA slot.

Real-Time Clock/Calendar

The real-time clock provides system clock/calendar information stored in a non-volatile memory (NVRAM). The real-time clock battery (Figure 2-3, S) provides power backup for the real-time clock.

BIOS

A BIOS and Setup Utility are located in the Flash EPROM on the system board and include support for system setup and PCI/ISA Plug-and-Play auto- configuration.

A number of security, reliability, and management features also have been incorporated to meet vital server needs.

Video

The onboard, integrated Cirrus Logic CL-GD5446 super VGA controller (PCI) is a high-performance SVGA subsystem that supports the following:

■BIOS compatibility with VGA, EGA, CGA, Hercules Graphics, and MDA.

■1 MB of Video Memory expandable to 2 MB (Figure 2-3, E).

■16-bit bus for high-speed display memory access.

■Hardware accelerated bit block transfers (BITBLT).

■Display power management system.
