Recommended Action
Following a system restart, this message reminds you that drive x is defective and fault tolerance is being used. Drive x needs replacement as soon as possible. A loose or defective cable can also cause this error.
The drives indicated were installed in the wrong place, so they have been disabled. Reinstall the drives correctly.
Press F1 to restart the computer with the drive array disabled. Run ADU for more information.
Press F2 to use the drives as configured and lose all the data on them.
This message indicates that previously operating drives are missing or inoperative following a cold or warm reset. Turn off system and check cable connections. If cables are connected, replace the drive. Press F1 to restart the computer with the drive array disabled.
If you do not want to replace the drives now, press F2.

1Message 1788 might also be displayed inadvertently due to a bad power cable connection to the drive or a defective SCSI cable. If this message was due to a bad power cable connection, repair the connection and pressF2. If this message is not eliminated by pressing F2, run the Array Diagnostic Utility.
If this message was not due to a bad power cable connection and the drive was not replaced, this could indicate a defective SCSI cable. Contact your Authorized Compaq Service Provider.
