Existing Configurations

To change the stripe size on an existing configuration, select “Modify Logical Drive.” Use “Modify/Expand Array” if physical drives will be added at the same time stripe size is changed. See Table 5-1 for the range of supported sizes. This can only be done if the Array Accelerator is enabled and the cache memory is large enough to store data during the transition. See the “Distributing Data and Data Striping” section in Appendix E for a more detailed explanation.

IMPORTANT: In some cases, when the stripe size is increased, the number of sectors required on each physical drive will also be increased. However, an error message will be displayed indicating the possibility of data loss. You will be given a choice to cancel the change or to accept data loss. If you want to preserve the data, use the Online RAID Level and Stripe-Size Migration screen.
