3.3.10.3Traffic Feature Options (Optional)

The Traffic group selection from the Map Setup Page Menu allows you to customize the display of traffic on the Navigation Map. The Traffic function requires the installation of a compatible traffic device. TIS and TAS cannot be displayed at the same time. If the aircraft has a TAS unit installed, the GDU 620 will be configured for TAS. If no TAS unit is installed and a GTX Mode-S transponder is installed then the GDU 620 will be configured for TIS. A pilot can tell which data is being displayed by the label in the top left corner (TAS OPERATING vs TIS OPERATING). TIS data comes from a GTX transponder. Coverage is limited to specific areas as shown in the Airmen’s Information Manual (AIM). TAS data comes from a TAS unit such as a Garmin GTS 800 or 820, Skywatch 497, KTA 810, or other unit. Coverage follows the aircraft. In the Navigation Map page setup you can select the maximum range at which traffic symbols are shown. Once outside of the selected range, traffic will be decluttered. The Traffic soft key will still be available.

Note: Traffic is automatically decluttered from Nav Map 1 and 2 when the map scale is above 150 NM.
