Setting Up the Printer

To set up a parallel printer for use with the system:

1Log on to the system as root.

2Enter cd /etc/uucp

3Edit the Systems file to add an entry for the printer. This entry must include the hex representation for the printer IP address and port.

hp4si Any hplaser - \x002<hex value for port><hex value for IP address>

4Edit the Devices file with the following line: hp4si tcp - - TLI \D

5Save and exit the Devices file.

6Enter

lpsystem -tbsd -Tnever -R0 -y”printer_name IP_address” hp4si

where printer_name and IP_address are appropriate for the printer you are adding.

7Enter lpadmin -php4si -Uhp4si -Ipcl -Thplaserjet
