Download Microcode to a PCI FC-AL Adapter

Microcode installation occurs while the adapter and attached drives are available for use. It is recommended that a current backup be available and the installation be scheduled during a non-peak production time period.

Note: If the source is diskette, the diskette must be in a backup format and the image stored in the /etc/microcode directory.

See the following command syntax for a PCI FC-AL Adapter.

diag -c -d device_name -T "download [-s {/etc/microcodediskette}] [-l {latestprevious}] [-f]"

Flag Description

-cNo console mode. Run without user interaction.

-dDevice name is the name of the adapter.

-TUse the download option to download microcode.

-sSource of the new microcode image. Default is /etc/microcode.

-lLevel of microcode to install. The default is latest.

-fForce the installation even if the current level of microcode is not on the source.

Download Microcode to DVD-RAM Attached to a PCI SCSI Adapter

See the following command syntax for a DVD-RAM attached to a PCI SCSI Adapter:

diag [-c] -d cdX -T "download [-s {/etc/microcodediskette}] [-l {latestprevious}] [-f]"

Flag Description

cdX Device selected, for example, cd0.

-sSource of the new microcode. The default is /etc/microcode.

-lLevel of microcode image to be installed. The default is latest.

-fInstall the microcode on the device even if the current level is unavailable on the source.

See the following command syntax for a disk drive attached to a PCI SCSI adapter:

diag [-c] -d hdiskX -T "download [-s {/etc/microcodediskette}] [-l {latestprevious}] [-f]"

Flag Description

-cNo console mode. Run without user interaction -dhdiskX

Selected device, for example, hdisk0. -Tdownload

Download microcode task.

-sSource of the new microcode. The default is /etc/microcode.

-lLevel of microcode image to be installed. The default is latest.

-fInstall the microcode on the device even if the current level is unavailable on the source.
