
Step 2. Loading the Diagnostics
Note: If the system is in standby mode
To begin loading the diagnostics on a system not connected to an HMC, do the following:
1.Stop all application programs running on the operating system.
2.Stop the operating system by logging in as root user and typing shutdown.
3.Wait for the system to go into standby mode.
v The operator panel LED starts to blink at a slow rate.
vThe OK message displays in the operator panel.
The following figure shows the operator panel and the locations of operator panel components that are referred to in this procedure.

4.Turn on the system unit power.
5.After the keyboard POST indicator displays on the firmware console and before the last POST indicator (speaker) displays, press the numeric 6 key on either the directly attached keyboard or the ASCII terminal to indicate that a service mode boot should be initiated using the customized service mode boot list.
6.Enter any requested password.
Note: If you are unable to load the diagnostics to the point when the DIAGNOSTIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS display, call your support center for assistance.
