System Firmware		Updates
This	section	describes the methods of reprogramming	the	system firmware. All	type
of	firmware	that can be reprogrammed are updated	at	the same time. They	are

follows:

Ÿ System Power Control Network programming

Ÿ Service Processor programming

ŸIPL programming

ŸRun-time Abstraction Services

Three user-initiated processes can be used to update the firmware in the syst

Ÿ Service Processor menu

Ÿ Service Aids (available in AIX)

Ÿ AIX command line

A fourth method, called recovery mode, is initiated automatically by the service processor if the service processor programming has been corrupted. This method i described later in this section.

where

XX

=

model designation, YY =

year,

MM =

month,

and

DD = day of the release.

firmware

level

is

displayed

in

two

places

on

the

system:

Ÿ On the AIX command

line,lscfgenter-vp]grep ROM

. The

last line

displayed is

the

firmware

level

of

the

system.
