Figure 15-15 shows a 16-bit system with two EPROMs and two RAMs. It is configured to use the write strobe mode. ALE latches the address; AD15 is the chip-select signal for the memory devices. WRL# is asserted during low byte writes and word writes. WRH# is asserted during high byte writes and word writes. Note that the RAM devices do not use AD0. WRL# and WRH# de- termine whether the low byte (AD0=0) or high byte (AD0=1) is selected.
