Auto programming repeats the pulse twice (for the 87C196MC, MD) or five times (for the

87C196MH), using the pulse width you specify in the external EPROM . Slave mode re pea ts the

pulse until PROG# is deasserted. In slave programming mode, the PALE# signal controls the

pulse width. In all cases, the pulse width must be at least 100 µs for successful programming.
