Your SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card was supplied by your Cellular Service Provider when you purchased your Accompli 009. You will not be able to make or receive calls if you do not have a SIM card inserted in your phone.
Note GSM Service Providers allow you to make emergency calls without a SIM card inserted. Contact your Service Provider for more details.
The SIM card is a “Smart Card” that contains your phone number, service details, and memory for storing contact numbers and messages. You can therefore use your SIM card in other compatible GSM handsets and you will be charged for the call.
Like a bank card or credit card, you should keep your SIM card secure. Do not bend or scratch your card, and avoid exposure to static electricity or water.
GSM Emergency Calls
In case of an emergency, you can use your Accompli 009 to make an emergency call. In the United States, dial 911. Outside of the United States, dial the GSM standard number, 112.
Provided that your phone has found a network, you will be able to make an emergency call. The call can be made regardless of any security codes and, depending on the network, with or without a SIM card inserted.
The emergency call will be directed to a central emergency operator.
