Diagnosing

Problems

with

ATM

Modules

 

 

 

 

If

the

cause

of

a

Phase 2

problem is

not

due to

the 6416SW console connection, make

sure

that all

ATM modules are

operational

by

following

these steps:

1.Enter the SHOW MODULE ALL command as describedONcorein theSwitching Hub/CELLplex 4000 ATM Command Reference Guide.

2.Check that each module is installed, connected, and functioning properly. Normal operation is indicatedY appearswhn inInstallthe , Connect, andOperation

columns for all

slot

numbers except the<extension>row whereappears. In the

row for this

slot,

normal operation Yis inindicatheInstedall bycolumn andn in

the Connect and

Operation columns.

3.Ifn appears Installfor , make sure that the module is properly plugged into the backplane connectors in the hub.

Ifn

appears Connectfor ,

use

the

SET

MODULE command

to

reconnect

the module

 

for

ATM

traffic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ifn

appears Operationfor

,

the

module,

slot,

or

backplane

may be

faulty. Insert

the

module

into

other

slots

to

see

if

the

slot

or

backplane

is

the

cause.

 

If

the problem persists, enter the SHOW MODULE VERBOSE command

to

display

 

more

detailed

information

on

the

module's

status.

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. If

the

status

of

the

module

in

the

SHOW MODULE VERBOSEhardwarescreen is

 

KO

andpermanent failure,

 

reset

the

module. If

the

problem

persists and if

the

module's

status

does

not

chardwareange to okay

andnormal,

replace

the

module.

 

If the module's status coundertinuesrecoveryas for a long time, reset the module. If the problem persists, replace the module.
