Setting 6416SW Passwords

It is necessary to set two levels of 6416SW passwords:

Administrator password that provides allaccess6416SWtocommands with read-write (configuration) access

User password that provides accesssubset ofto a6416SW commands including most SHOW commands, PING and TELNET.

Administrator Password

1.At the console prompt, type the SET DEVICE PASSWORD ADMINISTRATOR command:

￿ONcoreATM> set device password administrator

Then			press		Enter.
2. In			the	next		three		fields displayed, enter your current password and the new
password				(up		to	fifteen		characters) twice	as	shown below. For security purposes,
the			values		you		enter	are	not displayed on	the	screen.
	￿Enter current administrator password: {old password}
		New password:							{new password}
		Re-enter password:							{new password}

Then press Enter. You are prompted when your password is accepted:

￿Password changed.

3. To save your new password, type the SAVE DEVICE or the SAVE ALL command:
