Preinstallation instructions
Always observe the following before you install any component:
1Turn off your system and all the peripherals connected to it.
2Unplug all cables from the power outlets.
3Open your system according to the instructions on page 44.
4Follow the ESD precautions described in this chapter when handling a server component.
5Remove any expansion board(s) or peripheral(s) that block access to the DIMM socket or other component connector.
Warning! Failure to properly turn off the server before you start installing components may cause serious damage. Do not attempt the procedures described in the following sections unless you are a qualified service technician.
Post-installation instructions
Observe the following after installing a server component:
1See to it that all components are installed according to the described
2Check to make sure you have not left loose tools or parts inside the system.
3Reinstall any expansion board(s), peripheral(s), board cover(s) that you have previously removed.
4Reinstall the chassis panels
5Insert and lock the padlock to the system to prevent unauthorized access to the inside of the system.
6Connect all external cables and the AC power cord(s) to the system.
7Turn on the system.
