6. Command Line Console Management

The Hardened Ethernet Extender Switch provides a command line console inter- face for configuration purposes. The Hardened Ethernet Extender Switch can be configured either locally through its RS-232 port or remotely via a Telnet session. For the latter, you must specify an IP address for the Hardened Ethernet Extender Switch first.

This chapter describes how to configure the Hardened Ethernet Extender Switch using its console by Command Line.

6.1 Administration Console

Connect the DB9 straight cable to the RS-232 serial port of the device to the RS-232 serial port of the terminal or computer running the terminal emulation application.

To gain direct access to the administration console, directly connect a terminal or a PC equipped with a terminal-emulation program (such as HyperTerminal) to the Hardened Ethernet Extender Switch console port.

When using the management method, configure the terminal-emulation program to use the following parameters (you can change these settings after login):
