Description | SMART warning temperature. |
Severity | Warning / |
Cause and | Cause: A disk has reached an unacceptable temperature and received a SMART |
Action | alert (predictive failure). The disk is likely to fail in the near future. |
| Action 1: Determine why the physical disk has reached an unacceptable |
| temperature. A variety of factors can cause the excessive temperature. For |
| example, a fan may have failed, the thermostat may be set too high, or the room |
| temperature may be too hot or cold. Verify that the fans in the server or enclosure |
| are working. If the physical disk is in an enclosure, you should check the |
| thermostat settings and examine whether the enclosure is located near a heat |
| source. |
Make sure the enclosure has enough ventilation and that the room temperature is not too hot. See the physical disk enclosure documentation for more diagnostic information.
Action 2 : If you cannot identify why the disk has reached an unacceptable temperature, then replace the disk. If the physical disk is a member of a non- redundant virtual disk, then back up the data before replacing the disk.
