To remove a Summit X480 DC PSU:

1De-energize the DC circuit.

2Attach an ESD-preventive wrist strap to your bare wrist and connect the metal end to an appropriate ground point on the rack.

3Disconnect the DC power cables as follows: a Pull the cover off the terminal block.

b Loosen the screws that secure the cable terminals to the terminal block. c Slide the wires out from under the captive washers.

4Disconnect the ground wire as follows:

a Loosen the screw that secures the ground wire to the terminal block. b Slide the wire out from under the captive washer.

5Push the latching tab to the right as you pull outward on the handle to disengage the PSU internal connectors (see Figure 118).

6Carefully slide the PSU the rest of the way out of the switch.

7If a replacement PSU will not be installed, install a cover over the unoccupied power supply bay.

NOTE

Unoccupied power supply bays must always be covered to maintain proper system ventilation and EMI levels.

Leave the ESD strap permanently connected to the switch, so that the strap is always available when you need to handle ESD-sensitive components.

Removing a mid-mounted Summit X480 switch from a rack requires two people to maneuver the switch and disconnect the mounting hardware.
