Clearing jams from the optional envelope

This section applies only to jams that occur when you are using an optional envelope feeder.

To clear jams from the optional envelope feeder

1Remove any envelopes loaded in the optional envelope feeder.

Lower the envelope weight and lift the tray extension up to the

 

closed position.

2Press and hold the release button on the left side of the optional envelope feeder. Grasp both sides of the optional envelope feeder and carefully pull it out of the printer.

Slowly remove any envelopes from the optional envelope feeder

 

 

and the printer.

Insert the optional envelope feeder into the printer until it locks into

 

 

place. (The connector on the top right side of the optional envelope

 

 

feeder fits into the plug in the printer.) Pull gently on the optional

 

 

envelope feeder to be sure that it is securely in place.

5Open and close the top cover to clear the jam message.

 

6 If a jam message persists, there is still a jammed envelope in the

 

printer. Look for the jam in another location. (See “Jam locations” on

page 96.)

7Reload envelopes, making sure that you push the bottom

envelopes in slightly further than the top envelopes. (See “Loading envelopes in the optional envelope feeder” on page 56.)
