One Management Data Interface is shared between the two MII interfaces. The single

Management Data Interface is used to configure the physical devices attached to each

of the MII interfaces. Figure 80 shows a typical application that may be used in

connecting to the MII interface.

15.1 Ethernet Coprocessor

The Ethernet coprocessor contains a Media Access Controller, a transmit data FIFO, and

a receive data FIFO.

Figure 81 displays a block diagram of the Ethernet coprocessor.

The Ethernet Coprocessor communicates to peripheral devices and the remainder of

the IXP42X product line and IXC1100 control plane processors over four interfaces:
