Spanning-Tree Commands

Command Modes

Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel) mode

User Guidelines

This feature should be used only with interfaces connected to end stations. Otherwise, an accidental topology loop could cause a data packet loop and disrupt device and network operations.

Example

The following example enables PortFast on Ethernet port 15.

Console(config)# interface ethernet ext.15

Console(config-if)#spanning-tree portfast

spanning-tree link-type

The spanning-treelink-typeInterface Configuration mode command overrides the default link-type setting determined by the duplex mode of the port and enables Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) transitions to the forwarding state. To restore the default configuration, use the no form of this command.

Syntax

spanning-tree link-type {point-to-point shared} no spanning-tree spanning-tree link-type

Parameters

point-to-point—Indicates that the port link type is point-to-point.

shared — Indicates that the port link type is shared.

Default Configuration

The device derives the port link type from the duplex mode. A full-duplex port is considered a point-to-point link and a half-duplex port is considered a shared link.
