User Guidelines

When configuring the hello time, the following relationship should be kept:

Max-Age >= 2*(Hello-Time + 1)

Example

The following example configures spanning tree bridge hello time to 5 seconds.

Console(config)# spanning-tree hello-time 5

spanning-tree max-age

The spanning-treemax-ageGlobal Configuration mode command configures the spanning tree bridge maximum age. To restore the default configuration, use the no form of this command.

Syntax

spanning-tree max-age seconds

no spanning-tree max-age

Parameters

seconds — Time in seconds. (Range: 6-40)

Default Configuration

The default maximum age for IEEE Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is 20 seconds.
