About Windows Update function
The Automatic Updates service of Windows Update is disabled.
→The Automatic Updates service of Windows Update is disabled on NEC Express5800/ft series in the initial status after performing “ft series Setup”.
To enable it, carefully read “About Windows Update (Applying Security Patches)” in Chapter 5 “Procedures after Completion of Installation” in User’s Guide (Setup), and change “Startup Type” of “Automatic Updates” from the Start menu - “Administrative Tools” - “Services” to Automatic or Manual, and then start the service.
When updating Windows modules using the Windows Update function, be sure to check the contents of update.
→Contact NEC sales company about the evaluation status of security patches or QFE.
You must contact NEC sales company about updating the OS.

About Automatic System Recovery (ASR) of NtBackup
The ASR function cannot be used on NEC Express5800/ft series.
Cautions about Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console
Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console cannot update files on the hard disk in the system where the system disk is a dynamic disk.
→To use Recovery Console in the system where the system disk is a dynamic disk, specify “Local Security Policy” on Windows Server 2003 in advance, and specify an environment variable “AllowRemovableMedia” on Recovery Console when using Recovery Console. For details, see “Cautions for using the Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console” of “System Repair” in Chapter 6 “TROUBLESHOOTING” of User’s Guide (Setup).
For using Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console in the system where disks are duplicated using RDR (Rapid Disk Resync) function, remove one of the PCI modules and then use Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console.
→If Windows Server 2003 Recovery Console is used with two PCI modules mounted, OS stop error may occur after using Recovery Console. For details, see “Starting up Recovery Console” of “System Repair” in Chapter 6 “TROUBLESHOOTING” of User’s Guide (Setup).
