CHAPTER 4 INITIALIZATION
SAVING RUNNING CONFIG
SAVING RUNNING CONFIG
Any data that you have set and changed is written in the DRAM area as part of running config. It will, therefore, be lost when the power is turned OFF.
To prevent the data from loss even after the power is turned OFF, save running config to flash memory as startup config.
To save running config as startup config, use the write memory command in global config mode. Running config is written over startup config.
Saving
Entering the write memory command causes the BUSY lamp to light to indicate that writing to flash mem- ory is in progress. Upon completion of writing, the BUSY lamp goes out and the command prompt is dis- played.
ix1000 − 01 (config) # write memory Enter ix1000 − 01 (config) #
NOTE: Do not turn OFF the power switch while the BUSY lamp is lit. Otherwise, the data in flash mem- ory may be destroyed.
