CHAPTER 6 MANAGEMENT AND MAINTENANCE

CONFIG MANAGEMENT

CONFIG MANAGEMENT

Running config is retained in DRAM during operation, and is erased when the power to the In-Skin Router is turned OFF. To start the In-Skin Router with the same settings the next time the power is turned ON, therefore, you must save the current running config to flash memory as startup config. The data in flash memory will not be erased even after the power is turned OFF.

NOTE: In case that the In-Skin Router cannot start, save running config after you have confirmed the settings. Config is information specific to the In-Skin Router, and if it is not saved, you will need to reconfigure the In-Skin Router with appropriate commands from the start.

MEMO: To check the settings with which the In-Skin Router is currently operating, you can view running config with the show running-config command. To check the saved settings, you can view star- tup config with the show startup-config command.

Saving with the write memory command

Executing the write memory command in global config mode causes running config to be saved as startup config. Running config is written over startup config.

Router # enable config Enter

Router (config) # write memory Enter

Router (config) #

MEMO: To check that saving has been performed properly, use the show startup-config command.
