CHAPTER 4 INITIALIZATION

SETTING UP THE LAN PORTS FOR SUITABLE COMMUNICATION MODES

NOTE: When you connect a communication device (such as a HUB) to the LAN1 (10/100BASE-TX) port of the In-Skin Router, and either the In-Skin Router or that communication device is set up for auto negotiation, transfer efficiency may be impaired due to the mismatch between the com- munication modes of these devices, although a link has been established.

If this occurs, set the communication rate of the LAN1 (10/100BASE-TX) port appropriately (to 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or auto negotiation), as well as the communication direction (to full du- plex, half duplex, or auto negotiation), referring to the following combination table.

Checking of the settings

Check the settings with the show interfaces command.

ix1000 01 (config FastEthernet0) # exit Enter

ix1000 01 (config) # show interfaces FastEthernet0.0 Enter Interface FastEthernet0.0 is up

(Omitted)

Half duplex, 10Mb/s, 100BaseTX

(Omitted)

Check the settings.

(In this example, half duplex, 10 Mbps)
