| Global config mode | : Mode in which general setup can be performed |
| Device config mode | : Mode in which each port can be set up for a specific physical operation |
Interface config mode: Mode in which a physical port can be set up for a specific logical connection operation
Each command is associated with a specific mode, and can be entered only after the router enters that mode.

The characters "Router" preceding the prompt on the screen is the default setting. If you set a host name using the hostname command for router identification purposes, "Router" is replaced by this host name.
