DHCP relay commands

This section covers the commands that are used to configure and manage DHCP on the Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch 5500 Series, both globally on the switch and on each VLAN.

Setting DHCP

To set DHCP, perform the following procedure:

Step Action

1Enable DHCP globally.

2Set a VLAN IP as the DHCP agent and a Server IP as the DHCP server, to configure an ip dhcp-relay forwarding path.

3Set the mode for each DHCP forwarding path.

4Enable DHCP for the specific VLAN.

5Enable the DHCP broadcast message for the specific VLAN.

ip dhcp-relay command

The ip dhcp-relaycommand is used to enable DHCP relay. DHCP relay is enabled by default.

The syntax for this command is:

ip dhcp-relay

This command is executed in the Global Configuration command mode.

This command has no parameters.

no ip dhcp-relay command

The no ip dhcp-relaycommand is used to disable DHCP relay.

The syntax for this command is:

no ip dhcp-relay

This command is executed in the Global Configuration command mode.

This command has no parameters.
