IP routing configuration using the Java Device Manager 215

Insert Static Route fields

Field

Description

Dest

The destination IP address of the route.

0.0.0.0 is considered the default route. Multiple

routes to a single destination can appear in

the table, but access to such multiple entries

is dependent on the table-access mechanisms

defined by the network management protocol

in use.

Mask

The destination mask of the route.

NextHop

The IP address of the next hop of this route.

In the case of a route bound to an interface

that is realized through a broadcast media,

the value of this field is the agent IP address

on that interface.

Metric

This field represents the cost of the static route.

It is used to choose the best route (the one

with the smallest cost) to a certain destination.

This field has a range of 1 to 65535. If this

metric is not used, the value is set to -1.

Enable

Enable the new static route.

4Click Insert. The new static route is displayed on the Static Routes tab.
