3. LINE PROBLEM

If the Line Fail indicator is blinking there was a line problem.

A poor line caused the communication to fail. Wait for the Communicating indicator to go out.

Then press 1 Stop I . Check your copy tray for an Error Report.

The above ‘READY’ message is not shown on the display panel.

TRANSMISSION

The machine cannot dial out.

The machine cannot dial out from behind a PBX.

Transmission cannot take place; Clear Original indicator blinks.

Transmission cannot take place; Line

Fail indicator blinks.

The document is not pulled into the ADF.

RECEPTION

The telephone keeps ringing and no fax is printed.

Switch the power on. If the Power indica- tor does not light, check that the power cord is plugged in.

. Change the telephone line type setting (see page 19).

. The number must contain the access code and a pause (see page 81). Try adding more pauses.

. The document is jammed in the feeder. Remove the jammed document

(see page 112) and repeat the transmission procedure.

. The document may be longer than the maximum limit (see Recommended Types of Document).

. The other machine is out of order. Check the error report.

Ask the other party to correct the fault.

. The line is busy or noisy.

Check that the dial tone is sent out. Try to retransmit.

. Insert the document into the feeder until it stops. Retransmit.

You are in Manual Receive mode. Change to Automatic Receive mode

(see page 42).

. Power is switched off.
