5.ERROR CODES
Fax machines use a telephone line. The same types of problems you experience while making phone calls (e.g., noisy lines, crosstalk, disconnection during conversation, Iowsignals) also occur with fax- ing. Telephone callers can deal with these problems themselves (e.g., by speaking a bit louder), but fax machines cannot. Therefore some errors and line fails are to be expected.
Whenanerror occurs, anerror report imprinted. Thisreport includes anerrorcode. The following table lists common error codes and a few of the possible causes.
If any of these or any other error codes are persistent and the machine does not work properly, contact your service representative.
0-00 Incompatible remote terminal
0-01 Remote terminal printer empty or jammed
0-03 Same as for code 0-00
0-04 Faulty remote terminal Poor line condition
0-05 Poor line condition
0-06 Incompatible or faulty remote terminal Poor line condition
0-07 The facsimile machine that you were sending to (remote machine) disconnected during the call, either due to noisy phone lines, a paper jam or because it ran out or paper. Resend the page.
0-08 The remote machine received the page that you sent but it had errors on the page. You may want to resend the page in question.
The other party’s memory could also be full. Contact the other party and ask them to make room in their memory for your message.
0-14 Same as for code 0-06.
0-15 Remote terminal does not have the confidential or transfer function. Remote terminal memory full.
0-16 Same as for code 0-04.
0-20 Poor line condition.
0-21 Same as for code 0-04.
0-22 You have just received a fax message, but there were problems because of poor line condition. Ask the other party to resend.
0-23 Same as for code O-22.
0-50 Incompatible remote terminal Poor line condition
0-51 Same as for code 0-06.
0-52 Poor line condition
0-53 The other end does not have confidential or transfer functions.
0-55 Same as for code 0-04.
