Removing a PLIM

This section describes how to remove a PLIM from the Cisco CRS-1 4-slot line card chassis.

A physical layer interface module (PLIM) is paired with an MSC through the midplane of the chassis.

APLIM provides the ability to choose several interfaces (for example, Packet-over-SONET/SDH [POS]). Figure 4-28shows a typical PLIM (in this case, a 16 x OC-48c/STM-16c Packet-over-SONET/ SDH [POS]).

If you need to remove a Cisco CRS-1 SIP-800, refer to the “Removing a SIP” section in the “Installing and Removing a SIP” chapter of the Cisco CRS-1 SIP and SPA Hardware Installation Guide on www.cisco.com.

Note To prevent anomalies when you reinstall a new or reconfigured PLIM, we strongly recommend that you use the shutdown command before removing a PLIM. For instructions, refer to the latest release of the Cisco IOS XR Getting Started Guide.
