Chapter4 Connection Manager PVC Connections Supported by Release 10 of CWM
Use Trunks Using ZCS: This t yp e i s applicable only when a co nn ec tion involves multiple
routing nodes. Routing is n ot involved when a connection or igi nat es an d te rmin at es on th e same
routing node. That is, when originating and terminating endpoints are using the same routing
node, this parameter is not applicable and is made insensitive. (Greyed out).
Preferred Route: Th is t yp e is a pp licable only when a c o n ne ction involves multiple rou ti ng
nodes. Routing is not in v o lv ed whe n a c o nnec tion ori gi nat es a nd ter mina t es on th e same ro uting
node. That is, when originating and t ermi nat in g endpo in ts ar e usi ng the s ame r outi ng no de, t hi s
parameter is not applica bl e a nd i s m a de insensitive. (Greyed out).
Override CAC: Connection Admission Control. An ATM function which determines whether a
virtual circuit VC) connection request should be accepted or rej ected. Override CAC allows an
override option for this function.
Route Master: The initial point of a route request.
Current Route: The current traffic route.
Click on the parameter you would like to edit, then click on the Edit button at the bottom of the All
Parameters window.
An Edit screen appears with al l e di ta bl e p ar am e ter s. Make any necessary changes. Clic k th e A p p ly
button. All values are saved . Click O.K. and you are returned t o th e M odify Connection screen.
After applying modifications to a connection, you can save changes to a connection template for later
use by clicking Save Template. Also, you can select Load Template to retrieve a previously modified
connection template.
For an ATM-ATM connection with CBR Service Type, the editable co n ne ct io n p ara m ete rs are as
follows:
Ingress UPC Parameters
PCR0+1(cps): Specifies the tr an s mi t/receive Peak Cell Rate (PCR) f o r cel ls l eaving the first
leaky bucket on the ASI card with CLP(0+1). Applies to only CBR connections. In general,
traffic arriving at rates greater than the P C R ar e d ica r ded.
CDVT0+1(usec): Cell Delay Variation Tolerance for the first leaky bucket, which applies to
cells with CLP(0+1). CDVT is th e m a ximum time for accumulat ed v io lat io ns of cell-arrival
time parameters.
CAC & Rate Parameters
CDV(usec): Cell Delay Variation. The maximum allowable delay variation through a network
for a circuit emulation connect io n .
CTD(msecs): Cell Transfer Delay. The m a xi m um d ela y incurred by a cell (including
propagation and buffering delays.)
Connection Descriptor
The connection descriptor is ind ependently configurable at each en d of a connection. Character
Limitations: None. Range: The D e scriptor field will take any number o f ch ar ac ters, but will
only display 64. To activate th e C onnection Descript or f e a tu re, the following confi gu r ation
steps will need to be followe d. U sin g the command line interface (C LI ) as user svplus:
a. cd/usr/users/svplus/conf
b. vi CwmDomainGlobal.conf
# Cwm Global Across the Domain Configuration File
# <Name> = <Value>
DESCRIPTOR_FLAG=0 (on=1, off=0)
c. Change the flag to 1 (on)
