Starting and Stopping Cisco WAN Manager
This chapter provides information about starting and stopping Cisco WAN Manager (CWM), using the
CWM main menu, CWM in res tr i cte d acc ess mode, and starting HP Open View.

Starting Cisco WAN Manager

This section provides in formation about starting CWM. This section inc ludes the following proced ures:
Starting CWM from a workstation for the first time
Performing a warm start of CWM
Performing a cold start of CWM
Note These procedures describe CWM startup fro m a workstation running the Sun Solaris operating system.

Starting CWM for the First Time

This section describes how to start CWM for the first time. This procedure is also used to start CWM
from a workstation th at has been powered o ff.
Step 1 Turn on power to any peripheral de v ices, s uch as e xte rnal disk drives, tape drives, or monitors, then turn
power on to the workstation.
Observe the messages that are disp la yed o n th e wor ks tat io n as it boo ts up, an d wai t fo r the lo gin prom pt.
While the Solaris OS is booting, the HPOV SNMP Agent, the HPOV background processes, and the
Informix database are also started.
Step 2 At the Solaris login window, click on Options > Session > CDE.
Note This step is necessary only on the firs t login. If aske d during t he login proce ss, sele ct CDE aga in.
Step 3 Login to the workstation as user sv plus.
Step 4 Left click the TTT icon to launc h th e S t yl e M a na ger a nd p er f orm th e f o llowin g s te ps to s ave sy stem

a. Click on Screen, Screen Saver, and Screen Lo ck O ff.
