FDDI Applications

The Stations Panel section displays a list of the stations on the ring to which the selected SMT is connected, in ring sequence beginning with the MAC, along with each stationÕs node class and current topology.

#

An index number assigned to each station that indicates its position on the ring in relation to the FDDI BRIM. The monitored FDDI BRIM is always 1.

MAC Address

Displays the manufacturer-set MAC address of the node inserted into the ring. MAC addresses are hard-coded into the device and are not conÞgurable.

Node Class

Displays the type of ring device. Possible values are:

Station

Indicates an FDDI node capable of transmitting,

receiving, and repeating data.

Concentrator

Indicates an FDDI node that provides attachment points

to the ring for stations that are not directly connected to

the dual ring.

Topology

Indicates the nodeÕs MAC conÞguration topology.

Upstream Neighbor

Displays the hardware address (in Canonical or MAC format, as currently selected) of each nodeÕs upstream neighbor.

NOTE

Note that the information displayed in the Station List is static once the window is opened; for updated information, click on the Refresh button. If the number of nodes exceeds the panel size, scroll bars will appear in the list box that will allow you to scroll through the station list to view the node of interest.
