To configure a softPVC for structured CES with CAS enabled, follow these steps, beginning in
privileged EXEC mode:
CES port adapter
Target switch

Source (active) side of PVC
DSO 1-3, 7
With CAS
CBR-PVC-B

Command Purpose
Step1 Switch# show ces status Displays information about the current CBR
interfaces.
Use this command to choose the ports to be
configured with CAS enabled.
Step2 Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)#
At the privileged EXEC mode prompt, enters
global configuration mode.
Step3 Switch(config)# interface cbr card/subcard/port
Switch(config-if)#
Selects the source interface to be configured.
Step4 Switch(config-if)# no shutdown Reenables the interface.
Step5 Switch(config-if)# ces dsx1 signalmode
robbedbit
Configures the signal mode to robbedbit
(CES T1 only).
Step6 Switch(config-if)# ces circuit circuit-id cas Enables channel-associated signalling.
Step7 Switch(config-if)# exit
Switch(config)#
Returns to global configuration mode.
Step8 Switch(config)# interface cbr card/subcard/port
Switch(config-if)#
Selects the destination interface to be configured.
Step9 Switch(config-if)# shutdown Disables the interface.
Step10 Switch(config-if)# ces dsx1 signalmode
robbedbit
Configures the signal mode to robbedbit
(CES T1 only).
Step11 Switch(config-if)# ces circuit circuit-id cas Enables channel-associated signalling.
Step12 Switch(config-if)# no shutdown Reenables the interface.
