Zone | For the OPT interface, use this field to select the zone to which you want the |
| OPT interface to belong. For other Ethernet interfaces, this field is |

Description | Enter a description of this interface. It is not used elsewhere. You can use |
| alphanumeric and ()+/:=?!*#@$_%- characters, and it can be up to 60 |
| characters long. |
IP Address | These IP address fields configure an IP address on the interface itself. If you |
Assignment | change this IP address on the interface, you may also need to change a related |
| address object for the network connected to the interface. For example, if you |
| use this screen to change the IP address of your LAN interface, you should also |
| change the corresponding LAN subnet address object. |
|
|
Get | This option is available for the WAN and OPT interfaces. Select this if this |
Automatically | interface is a DHCP client. In this case, the DHCP server configures the IP |
| address, subnet mask, and gateway automatically. |
| You should not select this if the interface is assigned to a VRRP group. See |
| |
|
|
Use Fixed IP | This option is available for the WAN and OPT interfaces. The OPT, LAN, and |
Address | DMZ interfaces always use static IP addresses. Select this if you want to specify |
| the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway manually. Enter the IP address, |
| subnet mask, and default gateway in the following fields. |
|
|
IP Address | Enter the IP address for this interface. This option is enabled for the WAN and |
| OPT interfaces if you select Use Fixed IP Address. |
|
|
Subnet Mask | Enter the subnet mask of this interface in dot decimal notation. The subnet |
| mask indicates what part of the IP address is the same for all computers in the |
| network. This option is enabled for the WAN and OPT interfaces if you select |
| Use Fixed IP Address. |
|
|
Gateway | Enter the IP address of the gateway. The ZyWALL sends packets to the |
| gateway when it does not know how to route the packet to its destination. The |
| gateway should be on the same network as the interface. This option is only |
| available for the WAN and OPT interfaces and only if you select Use Fixed IP |
| Address. |
|
|
Metric | Enter the priority of the gateway (if any) on this interface. The ZyWALL decides |
| which gateway to use based on this priority. The lower the number, the higher |
| the priority. If two or more gateways have the same priority, the ZyWALL uses |
| the one that was configured first. |
