APPENDIX D: Cables

D.3 Adapters

In addition to the standard cabling, we offer a set of adapters that you can use to connect legacy equipment to the ServSwitch Multi system:

To attach a legacy monitor with a 13W3 video connector, plug an HD15 male to 13W3 video adapter cable into the user cable’s monitor strand: Use the 1-ft. (0.3-m) KV16SUN (13W3 female) for a Sun monitor, the 5-ft. (1.5-m) KV16SGI-1 (13W3 male) for an SGI monitor, or the 1-ft. (0.3-m) KV16RS6-1 (13W3 female) for an RS/6000 monitor. (With Sun and RS/6000 monitors, attach the monitor’s own cable to the other side of the adapter. With SGI monitors, use the adapter cable instead of the monitor’s own cable—attach it to the video port on the monitor itself.)

To attach an legacy Mac monitor with a DB15 video connector, plug the 1-ft. (0.3-m) HD15 male to DB15 male video adapter KV16MAC into the user cable’s monitor strand.

To attach a legacy monitor with three BNC connectors for RGB video, plug the HD15 male to triple BNC male video adapter cable KV16BNC into the user cable’s monitor strand. If you include the three 6.5" (16.5-cm) broken-out cable strands at its monitor end, this cable is 8.2 ft. (2.5 m) long.

To attach a legacy CPU with a 13W3 video connector, plug an HD15 female to 13W3 male video adapter cable into the CPU cable’s video strand: the 5-ft. (1.5-m) KV16SGI-2 for an SGI CPU or the 1-ft. (0.3-m) KV16RS6-2 for an RS/6000 CPU.

Lastly, we also offer the Loopback Mouse Adapter KV16LOOP, which you’ll need in order to attach a CPU with dual video outputs to the ServSwitch Multi system with a PC type Server Cable (KV20xx or KV20xx-R2). This Adapter makes it possible for the ServSwitch Multi to recognize the secondary video connection as a valid CPU channel. Refer to Section 3.3.5.
