SERVSWITCH™ MULTI
Each Base Unit and MX comes with the local console module preinstalled. You will also need at least one Autosensing CPU-Interface Card (our product code KV2000C) for each computer you plan to attach to the Switch, as well as one Universal User-Interface Card (KV2500C) or User-Interface Card with On-Screen Display (KV2550C-R2) for each secondary console. The CPU-Interface Card, shown in Figure 2-4, has an HD44 female connector as a single composite interface for all I/O to and from the attached computer. The User-Interface Cards, also shown in Figure 2-4, have an HD62 female connector as a single composite interface for all I/O to and from the attached user station.

You’ll run an 8-foot (2.4-m), 20-foot (6.1-m), or 30-foot (9.1-m) Server Cable (shown in Figure 2-5) from the CPU-Interface Card to the attached computer. You’ll run a 1-foot (0.3-m), 10-foot (3-m), or 20-foot (6.1-m) User Cable (shown in Figure 2-6) from the User-Interface Card to the attached user station. Both Server and User Cables are available with or without audio and serial components.

Besides the regular interfaces, if you’re attaching serially accessed control devices such as terminals, hubs, bridges, or routers, you’ll need a Management Card (KV1608C-R2) and one or more Serial Control Cards (KV1609C); see Chapter 5.
