Power and Ground Installation
Procedure: Install Redundant Power Feeds
Ground only one cable to ground the shelf assembly. Terminate the other end of the gro und cab l e t o
ground according to local site practice. The ONS 15454 b ac kpla ne also ha s a g ro und ter mina l o n t h e
right side of the backplane. Connect a ground terminal for the frame ground (FGND) terminal according
to local site practice.
If the system loses power or both TCC+ cards are reset, you mu st re set the ON S 1 545 4 cloc k. Afte r
powering down, the date defaults to January 1, 1970, 00:0 4:15. To reset the cloc k, see the “Setting Up
Basic Node Information” section on page 3-2.
Note If you encounter problems with the power supply, refer to the Cisco ONS 15454 Troubleshooting and
Maintenance Guide for possible causes.
Warning Do not apply power to the ONS 15454 until you complete all installation steps and check the
continuity of the -48V DC and return.
Step 1 Measure and cut the cables as needed to reach the ONS 15454 from the fuse panel. Figure 1-23 sho ws
the ONS 15454 power terminals.
Step 2 Dress the power and ground cables according to local site practice.
Warning When installing the ONS 15454, the ground connection must always be made first and
disconnected last.
