Adding & editing Media server configurations
Site managers can ad d new Media server config u rations and update exist ing ones:
To edit a Media server, g o to Management se t t i ngs > Media servers and click Edit for the
appropriate entry. Th en update the fields as required using th e table in the appropri at e section
below and click Save.
Note: If you have existing conferences that use a Media server config uration and you edit that Media
server configurat ion, the streaming U R L s for the outputs viewab l e i n the Content Server web interface
may also be updated . For example, if the server ad dress of an external st reaming server has
changed, update th e address in the Media ser ve r configuration; t hen conferences that u se that Media
server configuration will still be playable.
To create a new Media ser ver configuration ei ther:
o Go to Management settings > Media servers and click th e appropriate link for t he type of
server that you want t o add. Then complete th e fields using the tab le in the appropriate
section below and cli ck Save.
o Go to Management settings > Media servers, click Edit for the Media server
configuration t hat is to be the basis of t he new one. Then updat e th e fields as required
using the table in th e appropriate section b elow and click Save as.

Media server configuration: Windows Media Streaming Server

Only Windows Media St reaming Servers are sup ported for streamin g Windows Media conten t. Saving
the Media server config uration checks t hat the server is availab l e at the specified ser ver address and
displays the server type if the information is availab le.
You can set up a Media ser ve r configuration for a W indows Media Stream ing Server to do live an d /or
on demand streamin g. Live streams can be sen t to the Windows Media playe r using either a un icast
or a multicast conn ection. Note that uni cast streaming can be con figured for either th e local or an
external Windows Media Streaming Server, but multicast streaming can only be configured with the
local Windows Media S t reaming Server.
Note: Before you start d el ivering your live cont ent as a multicast st r eam , check with your net work
administrator th at the network is mult icast enabled.
