When prompted for the remote system, type INTNETADR so the AS/400 recognizes the device as an IP device.

Type PORT1.

Connection type must be IP.

Internet address must be the IP address of the printer.

Destination type must be OTHER.

When prompted for transforming SCS to ASCII, type YES to allow the AS/400 do the character translation.

Manufacturer type and model must be the print driver that goes with your printer.

Setting Up a DEC ULTRIX 4.3 RISC or OSF1/ALPHA Remote Printer

Set up a remote printer on the host that sends jobs to a printer.

At the prompt, type: lprsetup

Select add.

Enter a name for your printer and press [Enter].

“Do you want more information on specific printer types?" Press [Enter].

A list of ULTRIX-supported printers is listed. Type remote and press [Enter].

Enter a printer synonym (alias) and press [Enter].

Designate a spooler directory and press [Enter], or accept the default spooler directory displayed and press [Enter].

Designate a remote system name and press [Enter].

Designate PORT1 as the remote system printer name and press [Enter].

You are asked to enter the name of a printcap symbol from a displayed list. Type Q and press [Enter].

Your configuration is displayed. You are asked whether these values are final. Type Y or N and press [Enter]. An example is shown below.
