3.14.3 Reset Media Card Using grreset

Use the grreset command to reset a media card from the UNIX prompt:

1.Log in as root on the SP Switch Router.

2.Enter the grreset command.

Specify the appropriate media card by its chassis slot number. To reset all the media cards, enter grreset all; to reset the media cards in slot 0, enter grreset 0; to reset the card in slot 4 and dump its memory, use grreset -D 4; to reset the card in slot 4 and return debug information, enter grreset -d 4.

Note: The grreset command can be used on a media card without disturbing normal SP Switch Router function.

You should, however, fence the SP Switch Router Adapter card before you issue a grreset command against it. This prevents some unexpected behavior of the SP primary node. Use the following command on the CWS:

Efence -autojoin node_number.

With the autojoin flag set, the SP Switch Router Adapter card is supposed to integrate automatically into the SP Switch network after a grreset command.

Without the autojoin flag, Eunfence or Estart need to be issued.

Refer to the command section in the GRF Configuration Guide 1.4, GA22- 7366 for a description of grreset. Refer toRS/6000 SP: Command Reference Version 2 Release 4, GC23-3900,for a description of Efence, Eunfence and Estart.

3.14.4 Using grstat to Display GRF Statistics

You might want to periodically watch what is going on on the SP Switch Router Adapter card. Use the command grstat -w70 all gt0?0 to obtain information about packets sent, received, forwarded, dropped or fragmented. Also, this command will give you an overview of the last errors that caused packets to be dropped or resent.
