Replacing data cards and processing hardware

Besides the har d disk, powe r supply, and cooling f ans, a number of components the BCM1000
uses for data functions can be replaced.
These components can be replaced:
WAN cards
LAN cards
modem cards
computer memory
•PEC cards
motherboard ba ttery

Replacing data card s

Depending on your location, you can have various confi gurat ions of data car ds that can include
WAN card, LAN, and modem cards (North America, only) . All three types of car ds are removed
and rep l aced i n the same man ner, the onl y differenc e being w hic h PCI slot they are i nse rt ed into.
For a description of the function of each type of card on the BCM1000, refer to “Data networ king
components” on page 22.
Figure 125 provides a genera l procedure for card replacement in the PCI slots of the BCM1000.
