The name for the communication syste ms which use radio tech nology to transmit and
receive signals be tween its componen ts and the Business Communica tions Manager.
Conference
A feature that allows the user to establis h a three-way call.
D-channel (Data channel)
An ISDN st and ard transm issi on channe l whi ch is p acket- switched. The c hannel is use d for
call setup, signaling, and data transmission.
data link connecti on indentifier (DLCI)
The DLCI is used to identify a PVC in frame relay networks.
DECT cordless telephone system
Hand held wireless tele phones that allow complete mobility within the rea ch of DECT
base sta tio ns. Porta ble telep hones provide many but not all standard sys te m features. They
also share some of the same programming as desk tele phones.
Delayed Ring Transfer (DRT) to prime
This feature allows the system to transf er unanswered calls on external line to the prime
telephone relate d to the called set . The number of rings can be adjusted. Activate this
feature under Featur e settings in Sy stem programming.
dial-up connection
A dial-up connection is a temporary conne ction between compute rs. This connection is
established over an analog or digi ta l telephone line.
dialing restriction
Restrictions are numbers you cannot dia l when the diali ng filter with those numbers is in
effect.
Digital Private Network Signaling System (DPNSS)
DPNSS is a networking protocol that provides operators with access to Enterprise Edge
features over multiple combined networks. Corporate offi ces, separ ated geograp hically,
can be linked over DPNSS to other Enterpris e Edge systems, bypassing the restric tions of
the PSTNs to which they may be connected. This allows connected Enterpri se Edge
systems to function like a private network. DPNSS is available for Inter national syste ms
only.

A unique number that the Business Communication s Manager system assigns to e very
telephone or data term inal.
